Dick Clark, 80, who suffered a stroke five years ago that affected his speech, will be in Times Square for the New Year's Eve countdown, according to an article in the New York Post.

Clark will co-host the annual event, of which he has been a part for the past 37 years, along with Ryan Seacrest on ABC.

The ratings for Clark's New Year's show demonstrate his popularity and drawing power.
Last year's bash in the 11:30 p.m.-to-12:33 a.m. time slot attracted an average audience of 17.61 million viewers, and outdelivered the combined audiences of NBC's "New Year's Eve With Carson Daly" and Fox's "New Year's Eve - Times Square" by some 19 percent in total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research (via ABC).
