Maine Handicapped Skiing

Looking for a great day of skiing and riding at Sunday River? Join Maine Handicapped Skiing at their 25th anniversary Ski-A-Thon, March 27th, 2010 at Sunday River Ski Resort. Teams of five people-- friends, family or co-workers--raise a minimum of $1000 to participate in the all day extravaganza. And what a day it is!

At the Ski-A-Thon participants ski or ride for free all day, courtesy of Sunday River, (or Nordic ski down the hill at the Sunday River XC Ski Center), eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Grand Summit Hotel, and participate in relay races, the FUN RACE at Monday Mourning, or the Tropical Obstacle Course created by the Parrot Head Club of Maine. There is never a dull moment at the Ski-A-Thon. Ski-A-Thon’ers can get free massages, be thrilled by a magician, dance to the great sounds of Rockin’ George Leh and His Band or laugh with Gary Crocker, Maine humorist!

The Ski-A-Thon is Maine Handicapped Skiing’s flagship annual event. It raises 65% of its operating budget in one day. MHS is Maine’s largest year-round adaptive recreation organization serving children and adults with physical disabilities. Over 300 participants take adaptive lessons in alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing in the winter and golf, paddling and cycling lessons in the summer—all in Maine and all free of charge, thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors at the Ski-A-Thon.

Maine Handicapped Skiing is volunteer-driven with over 400 skilled and well trained volunteers sharing their love and knowledge of sports with over 300 participants annually.

Skiers or riders looking to spend a great day on the slopes and trails and do something really good for someone else can join Maine Handicapped Skiing at their 25th anniversary Ski-A-Thon, March 27th. Call 207-824-2440, go online at www.skimhs.org/Ski-A-Thon  or email MHS at info@skimhs.org .
